Thank you for your interest in efforts to rebuild the USS Arizona Memorial’s Museum & Visitor Center.  This website is an effort to keep people like you informed on the progress of the $58 million campaign, the incredible support received from dedicated individuals and organizations, and what you can do to help us finish the job.

For 28 years, the Visitor Center has welcomed millions of people from all over the world as they paid their respects to the fallen of Pearl Harbor.  The new Museum & Visitor Center will continue that tradition in the following innovative ways:

• accommodate the vastly increased number of people that visit each year with expanded, comfortable, and ecologically aware facilities.
• provide in-depth interpretation of what happened at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 through comprehensive, state-of-the-art audio/visual displays; the use of rare, historical photographs, charts, maps, and more to extensively analyze events leading up to the attack through the post-attack salvage efforts; and new, “tactile” presentations allowing visitors to feel the history of Pearl Harbor.
• Climate-controlled exhibit cases allowing many more of the priceless artifacts of Pearl Harbor history to be displayed.

• Groundbreaking!

Groundbreaking for the new Pearl Harbor Memorial Museum & Visitor Center took place November 5, 2008.

• Construction Contract Awarded
The contract to construct the new Visitor Center and Museum was awarded to Watts Construction by the Navy on September 22, 2008.


• New Visitor Center Pages Online
In an effort to keep those interested in the progress of the new visitor center informed, the Arizona Memorial Museum Association is setting up a new section on its website for that purpose.

Included in the section will be: transition phases for those planning to visit the USS Arizona Memorial during the two-year construction process; photos of National Park Service town meetings recently held throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona previewing the new Visitor Center; and, coming soon, a special video interpretive tour of the new museum exhibits led by NPS management personnel.
